Windermere Steam and Cruise
We travel via Ambleside and Coniston Water to Haverthwaite, where we board a steam train to Lakeside. Here we board a boat and cruise the whole length of Windermere to attractive Ambleside, where there is time to obtain lunch and explore, before returning to our hotel.
Spectacular Ullswater and Kirkstone Pass
We journey via the shores of Ullswater, one of the most dramatic lakes in Cumbria, enjoying the spectacular views of mountains, plunging down to the lake, which inspired Wordsworth to compose his poem ‘Daffodils’. We continue via the spectacular Kirkstone Pass to Bowness, where we break for lunch. We return via Kendal, famous for its Mint Cake.
Grasmere and Keswick
Morning visit to Grasmere. Nestling at the foot of some spectacular fells and with its own lake, this village has many shops, pubs and cafes. You can also visit Wordsworth's grave in the churchyard and buy the legendary Grasmere Gingerbread. We return for an afternoon at leisure in Keswick. A lovely market town, beautifully situated in the shadow of Skiddaw. Our hotel is right in the heart of the town and there are easy walks to the shores of Derwentwater, where you can take a boat trip around the lake.
