Day 1. Welcome to Warners Alvaston Hall
We pick you up from your door and journey to Nantwich.
Day 2. Chester
Today we have a full day’s excursion to the beauty and unique city of Chester. The ancient city is a truly breathtaking experience. Each chapter of Chester’s history is etched into the very fabric of the city. Chester has the most complete city walls, the oldest racecourse and the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, plus a 1000-year-old Cathedral with Europe’s finest example of medieval carvings - and of course the one and only 700- year-old Rows galleries where shopping is a double delight.
Day 3. Knutsford
We make a morning visit the to historic and quirky town of Knutsford. The town was the inspiration of Elizabeth Gaskell’s Cranford. The author lived in Knutsford for many years and is buried in the churchyard of beautiful Brook Street Unitarian Chapel. There are several Tudor, Georgian, and Victorian buildings, as well as plenty of cafes, pubs and restaurants. Penny Farthings are also a thing here with the Courtyard Coffee House also hosting the penny farthing museum (plus a toy train that goes round the café’s perimeter).
Day 4. At Leisure
Enjoy the extensive facilities at the hotel.
Day 5. Homeward Journey
Sadly, we wave goodbye to our hosts at Alvaston Hall, arriving late afternoon for our taxis home.
