Day 1. Welcome to the Birthplace of the Bard!
We pick you up from your door and journey to Stratford-upon-Avon.
Day 2. Baddesley Clinton (NT) and Henley in Arden
We take a break in the attractive town of Henley in Arden, known as one of the prettiest towns in England: a mile-long High Street of Medieval, Tudor, Georgian and Victorian architecture including 150 historic buildings, shops, pubs and restaurants, with a history dating back to the 12th century. We continue to Baddesley Clinton (NT), a secluded, intimate estate set in the heart of the Forest of Arden, with 500 years of fascinating and unexpected stories. This moated manor house has late Medieval, Tudor and 20th-century histories.
Day 3. River Avon Cruise and Stratford-upon-Avon
A unique 40 minute boat trip has an amusing and light commentary which is interspersed with well-known classical music to complement the stretch of the river. During the trip you will enjoy unparalleled views of the Theatre, Holy Trinity (Shakespeare's burial place) experience local water fowl and travel through one of the oldest and most iconic locks in the country, which fuelled the industrial revolution. There is so much to see and do at the Bard’s home town, Stratford-upon-Avon. You can visit Shakespeare’s birthplace and other properties associated with the great playwright and poet or you can meander around the lanes rich with half-timbered buildings and stroll along the picturesque Avon waterfront.
Day 4. Homeward Journey and Coventry Cathedral
On our return journey we travel to evocative Coventry Cathedral. The ruins of the original, destroyed in the Blitz, stand next to the modern cathedral. At midday, you can observe the 10 minute Litany of Reconciliation. There’s also a Blitz museum, which takes us back to the 1940s. Arrive late afternoon for our taxis home.
