Day 1. Welcome to Bury St Edmunds
We pick you up from your door and journey to Bury St Edmunds.
Day 2. Constable Country and Bury St Edmunds
After breakfast, we discover idyllic villages on a guided tour of Constable Country, including the birthplace of the famous painter himself at East Bergholt - an unspoilt village with many fine old houses and cottages. We also see the church at Dedham, with its 131ft tower and the little hamlet of Flatford Mill – both favoured landscapes for Constable’s paintings, with one of his works being named after the mill. We journey back to the hotel via a stop in the centre of Bury St. Edmunds, famous for its Abbey Gardens and the Angel Hotel, where Dickens had Mrs Pickwick stay. There’s also (reputedly) Britain’s smallest pub, The Nutshell.
Day 3. Suffolk Coast Tour
A tour along the Suffolk coast. Break for coffee in Aldeburgh and travel past ‘the House in the Clouds’. Break for lunch in the picturesque resort of Southwold, which has a pleasant pier and colourful beach huts that sell for up to £250,000 each!
Day 4. Homeward Journey
Sadly, we wave goodbye to our hosts at the Priory Hotel, arriving late afternoon for our taxis home.
