Coffin Works and Birmingham
We travel into Birmingham for an unusual visit! With the original machinery working again, you can truly experience how this old Jewellery Quarter firm once operated on a day-to-day basis, producing some of the world's finest coffin furniture, including the fittings for the funerals of Churchill, Chamberlain and the Queen Mother. Travel back in time to experience how Newman Brothers operated during its heyday, entering a 1960s time capsule where the sounds of the day mingled with the industrial sounds of a working factory.
JCB Factory Tour
The story of JCB is one of innovation, ambition and sheer hard work. From small beginnings building agricultural tipping trailers in 1945, to the global force in manufacturing the company has become today. Your visit will begin with welcome refreshments, and a short presentation in the JCB Theatre showing our corporate brand video on the global manufacturing facilities and products. You will then be invited by one of our Tour Guides to attend a personal tour of the ‘’Story of JCB’’ exhibition with time to visit the JCB shop. The tour will then take you to the assembly line of the world famous Backhoe Loader machine; here you will see the process of how the machine is built from the delivery of the sheet steel, profiling, laser cutting, welding, paint shop, assembly and finally the finished product!
