Ledbury and Weston’s Cider
We travel via the beautiful Malvern Hills to the attractive market town of Ledbury, full of timber framed buildings. Look out for the 17th century black and white Market House and the much photographed cobbled medieval street where the Heritage Centre, Butchers Row Folk Museum and the Painted Room leading to the fine parish church can be found. After time for lunch, we make our way to nearby Weston’s Cider where we have a tour followed by a tasting.
Severn Valley Railway and Witley Court
We enjoy a morning ride on the Severn Valley Railway from Kidderminster to the attractive town of Bridgnorth, where we break for lunch and maybe ride on the Cliff Railway. Later we travel to Witley Court. Once one of the great country houses of Victorian England, attracting fashionable society when it was the setting for extravagant parties and royal entertainment, the house was devastated by fire in 1937. Today, the spectacular ruins provide evidence of the opulence and scale of the architecture and interiors whilst the beautifully restored parterres, garden and Perseus and Andromeda fountain provide a relaxing retreat.
Day at leisure
From here, we return to Worcester where we have free time for lunch before enjoying the afternoon at leisure to explore. Highlights include Worcester Cathedral, Tudor House Museum, Museum of Royal Worcester, Greyfriars House and Garden and The Guildhall Worcester.
