Sunday
An early morning departure from Cobham Services we make our way north with comfort stops en route reaching our overnight hotel in the Glasgow area by early evening. (Overnight bags are advisable)
Monday
Today we travel along the shores of Loch Lomond, “The Queen of Lochs”, then Glencoe, “The Weeping Glen”, with a stop for free time in Fort William. After lunch, we continue with more loch and mountain scenery all the way to Gairloch.
Tuesday
Day at leisure in Gairloch. Situated on the shore of Loch Gairloch amongst the awe-inspiring scenery of Wester Ross, Gairloch offers a wealth of spectacular scenery and activities for visitors. There are several good sandy beaches in the area, such as the brilliantly-named Big Sand. There are boat trips, such as whale watching or a glass bottomed vessel. This is a break for taking in the lovely surroundings of this stunning area.
Wednesday
We visit the Inverness, where the River Ness meets the Moray Firth. It's the largest city and the cultural capital of the Scottish Highlands. Its Old Town features 19th-century Inverness Cathedral and an indoor Victorian Market selling food, clothing and crafts. The contemporary Inverness Museum and Art Gallery traces local and Highland history.
Thursday
In the morning, we travel to the picturesque fishing town of Ullapool, nestled on the shores of Lochbroom. Later we visit Inverewe Garden. Amazing species that simply shouldn’t grow here are thriving, aided by the effects of the Gulf Stream. From pre-historic trees such as our Wollemi pines to rhododendrons from China, Nepal and India, Himalayan poppies and Tasmanian eucalyptus, there is something to discover and enjoy in every corner. The estate has many designations recognising its importance as a species-rich habitat.
Friday
We retrace our steps and head for our overnight hotel.
Saturday
After breakfast we head south with comfort stops along the way, reaching Cobham Services by mid evening for our taxis home.
