Wednesday
Departing the local area, we travel north by motorway with a stop to obtain lunch. We reach our overnight hotel, the modern Holiday Inn Lancaster, by late afternoon where we stay for one night’s dinner, bed, and breakfast. (Overnight bags are advised).
Thursday
After breakfast we have some free time before travelling to catch our ferry from Heysham to Douglas and onto the Empress Hotel where we enjoy 5 nights dinner, bed and breakfast.
Friday
This morning we travel to Castletown and visit the House of Keys, the former home of the Manx Parliament and enjoy an interactive guide retelling the history of the island’s government. We continue our journey south passing Cregneash to Calf Sound and magnificent views of the Calf of Man. At Port Erin we take a look around the Railway Museum before boarding the steam train back to Douglas.
Saturday
After breakfast we take a single journey on the longest narrow gauge vintage electric railway system in the British Isles, the Manx Electric Railway to the pretty town of Laxey, famous for the Great Laxey Wheel. From here we join the Snaefell Mountain Railway for a return journey to the summit some 2,036 feet above sea level. We also spend time in Peel, where so many options are available to you. Visit the House of Manannan, Peel Castle, or treat yourself to an ice-cream in the harbour. We return via Tynwald Hill.
Sunday
Follow the Isle of Man’s famous TT course. Head to ‘Royal’ Ramsey, a working harbour town. We make a detour to Jurby to visit the Isle of Man Motor Museum, which is housed on a former RAF base. It has grown into a must see destination for fans of two, four (and more) wheeled vehicles.
Monday
This morning we take a journey on the charming Horse Tram along the Victorian promenade in Douglas. The rest of the day is at your leisure. We highly recommend a walk up to the Manx Museum. This free to visit attraction is packed full of artefacts and treasures unique to the Isle of Man’s history.
Tuesday
An early start to the day and a short drive to the ferry terminal to check in for the 08:45 sailing to Heysham, arriving there at 12:15. We travel south by motorway, we reach the local area by mid evening.
