Elan Valley Guided Tour
We explore the Elan Valley, known for its reservoirs and dams. A private ranger will tell us about the history of the dams and local area on a 9 mile (14.5 km) drive around a series of four lakes, created between 1892 and 1903 to supply water to the city of Birmingham. A wonderful scenic drive with plenty of photo opportunities. In the visitor centre there is time for lunch in the café, followed by visit to the gift shop.
Vale of Rheidol Railway and Aberystwyth
We drive to the popular seaside resort of Aberystwyth. There’s plenty of time to Aberystwyth’s many attractions, such as the harbour, pier, beach, castle, and the longest electric cliff railway in Britain. In the afternoon, we board the Vale of Rheidol Railway for a nostalgic journey through some of Wales’s most spectacular scenery.
Powis Castle
Powis Castle and Garden is laid out under the influence of Italian and French styles and its world famous garden retains its original lead statues, an orangery and an aviary on the terraces. Perched on a rock above the garden terraces, the medieval castle contains one of the finest collections of paintings and furniture in Wales. Discount for National Trust members £15.
