Tour of the Island and Farringford
We enjoy a scenic tour of Wight. On the west of the island, the spectacular cliffs drop to the English Channel. We break for lunch in the yachting haven of Yarmouth. In the afternoon, we visit Farringford, a Grade 1 Listed Building which was the main residence of the Poet Laureate Alfred, Lord Tennyson from 1853 until his death in 1892.
Godshill and Ryde
We visit Godshill, a quintessential English Village boasting some of the oldest architecture on the Isle of Wight. Time to explore its delightful medieval church, charming thatched-roofed cottages and a winding main-street lined with traditional tearooms. Afternoon at leisure in pleasant Ryde.
Shanklin
Shanklin, is a charming traditional seaside resort with a glorious long wide sandy beach, set against a backdrop of dramatic sandstone cliffs. The Shanklin Esplanade, lined with traditional seaside games, amusements, cafes, hotels, restaurants and pubs, is the perfect place to while away your day.
Isle of Wight Steam Railway and Cowes
Step back to a bygone era when steam power was the order of the day. Thrill to the sight and sound of powerful majestic steam engines and breathe in the evocative smells of a real steam railway. Soak-up the rhythm of quiet rural stations while enjoying the friendliness of traditionally uniformed staff. We enjoy a return ride to Havenstreet Station through lovely countryside. Later we visit the yachting haven of Cowes.
