Ross-on-Wye and Eastnor Castle
We travel to the attractive town of Ross-on-Wye. In the afternoon, we enjoy a private guided tour of Eastnor Castle. In the dramatic setting of the Malvern Hills and surrounded by a beautiful deer park, arboretum and lake, Eastnor is the home of the Hervey-Bathurst family. Dating from 1810, the state rooms are lavish and the castle is surrounded by woodland.
Tewkesbury and Great Malvern
Morning excursion to the historic town of Tewkesbury, which is dominated by a 12th century Abbey. This historic town lies at the confluence of the Rivers Severn and Avon and is peppered with picturesque half-timbered buildings. Afternoon at leisure to explore Great Malvern. This spa town, synonymous with Elgar who lived here, has a magnificent priory church, which is located next to our hotel. The Malvern Hills are beautiful and the more energetic can enjoy some lovely walks.
Black and White Villages and Hay-on-Wye
Today we begin with a ride around some of the villages in Herefordshire’s beautiful ‘Black and White’ Villages trail. Our route takes in delightful cottages, inns, shops in timber framed hamlets including Dilwyn, Weobley, Eardisley, Pembridge and Eardisland. We continue to the ‘book town’ of Hay-on-Wye, where it is market day.
